Beautiful but straps too long

Love the fabric and all the pockets. However, I wish the straps were shorter. Seem like it was designed for a 7ft tall larger person. They hang way down my sides and I’m 5’5”. When I sit it on top of my luggage using the luggage trolley I’m worried the straps will get run over by my suitcase wheels. I really don’t understand why the straps are so long. Also wish the exterior side pockets were wide enough for water bottles.
